Support the Rotary Clubs of Ignacio and San Rafael Evening

Rotary International

Rotary is a worldwide organization of business and professional leaders that provides humanitarian service, encourages high ethical standards in all vocations and helps build goodwill and peace in the world. Approximately 1.2 million Rotarians belong to more than 32,000 clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas.

The main objective of Rotary is service — in the community, in the workplace and throughout the world. Rotarians develop community service projects that address many of today's most critical issues such as children at risk, poverty and hunger, the environment, illiteracy and violence. They also support programs for youth, educational opportunities and international exchanges for students, teachers and other professionals as well as vocational and career development. The Rotary motto is Service Above Self.

The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International is a not-for-profit corporation that promotes world understanding through international humanitarian service programs and educational and cultural exchanges. It is supported solely by voluntary contributions from Rotarians and others who share its vision of a better world. Since 1947, the Foundation has awarded more than US$1.1 billion in humanitarian and educational grants.

Rotary Clubs of Ignacio and San Rafael Evening

Rotary Clubs of Ignacio and San Rafael Evening are where serious business and meaningful volunteerism are strengthened by laughter and genuine camaraderie among their 95-plus members. Taking to heart the Rotary motto of Service Above Self, the clubs oversee diverse projects in Novato, San Rafael, and Marin County The Rotary Club of Ignacio projects include providing dictionaries to every third-grader at Novato Charter, Hamilton , and Loma Verde elementary schools; taking at-risk youth to San Quentin under the SQUIRES program to show them the realities of incarceration with a goal of changing their future to a more positive one; cooking and serving meals for residents of Mackey Terrace; volunteering at SF-Marin Food Bank; cleaning up local parks and much more. The Rotary Club of San Rafael Evening volunteerism and projects include providing dictionaries to every third-grader at Laurel Dell Elementary School, helping to end hunger in Marin by collecting unused produce at the Farmers market with ExtraFood.org, creating care packages for our soldiers overseas, volunteering to feed our homeless community at St. Vincent de Paul Society of Marin, supporting ShelterBox.org for disaster relief, hosting REST ( Rotating Emergency Shelter Team ) dinners, and much more.

The literal foundation of many of these charitable efforts is the Rotary Club of Ignacio Foundation, a 501c3 organization that accepts charitable donations from members and the public to support local agencies serving those in need, other deserving civic or charitable projects in the community and certain international projects.

Through various fundraising events such as the Marin Color 5K, the foundation has raised more than $600,000 for local charities and community projects as well as projects in Mexico, the Philippines and Bali that significantly improve the health and lives of residents there.

All of these efforts come down to the generosity, passionate belief in giving back and hard work of the Rotary Club of Ignacio and the Rotary Club of San Rafael Evening members who never stop asking, “What else can we do?”
